Reykjanes Peninsula

Iceland birds
In this tour you will be traveling with an expert Icelandic birdwatching guide through this mysterious and breathtaking area of rugged and harsh treeless volcanic landscapes. Reykjanes Peninsula is located directly on the Mid-Atlantic ridge and is on the margin of the Eurasian and North American plates.
Birds on the peninsula such as Harlequin Duck, Great Northern Loon, Horned Grebe, Northern Gannet, Great Cormorant, Kittiwake, Arctic Tern, three species of murre and Razorbill are among those that might be seen during the day. Other wildlife species such as Harbor and Grey seals, White-beaked Dolphins and Minke Whales are also common in the area and you might be able to see them from land.

Reykjanes Peninsula Day tours – Nature and Wildlife Watching

This tour leaves from the city of Reykjavik so it's a great fit to the beginning or end of one our longer tours.

Being situated on the margin of the two tectonic plates, Reykjanes Peninsula gives you a good idea of how Iceland is being torn apart by the forces beneath your feet and evidence such as volcanic rock, lava, fissures, and gorges will be around you most of the day.

With a small group your guides are able to keep the itinerary flexible, depending on client’s requests and preferences, weather, and time of year.

A fantastic tour with a great combination of breathtaking nature and interesting wildlife!
